This is Elvin Jones, one of the baddest dudes to ever sit behind a set of drums. his thing was completely his own and he changed the face of drumming and jazz forever. here he is probably the early 1960s with the John Coltrane Quartet. this group changed jazz forever as well. elvin and the whole quartet are certainly a musical inspiration for me. and the black and white is automatically dope.

this is a picture of Monarch Indoor Percussion in 2011 after winning our second consecutive state title. i am very very proud of what we've accomplished.  i am also very excited about what we have yet to accomplish. unfortunately our uniforms look a bit ridiculous as we sort of look like power rangers. but that's okay as we play really well.

This picture is of De La Soul's album 3 Feet High and Rising. it was the first album they made and was completely fresh. it was and still is like nothing that has ever been done before in hip hop. for me this wasn't the first hip hop i got into by any means. however it is perhaps the one that i've picked up from the most musically. the lyrics are killin too.

This picture is "Dora Maar au Chat" painted in 1941 by Pablo Picasso. it means many things to me. first of all it is just an awesome painting, trippy and beautiful all the same. it also was done by Picasso. i think he's just a complete badass as he revolutionized art and for other reasons. this is also one of the world's most expensive paintings , which doesn't really matter at all but it's still interesting.

This is a picture of Miles Davis. Miles was around from the 1950s-1990s. during this time he revolutionized jazz a good four or five times. miles is certainly one of my heroes, for the fact above and because of his sense of style, both musically and as a person. he was just a complete badass who didn't give the slightest care about what anyone thought.

This is a picture of New York City. i am crazy about this place and cannot wait to get there after highschool. it is simply the American city. anything significant musically or culturally in the past century has started there, as it's the hub for these things. louisville is nice but i've gotta get to New York. what a beautiful picture too.

This is "Vétheuil" painted in 1901 by Claude Monet. i think it is an utterly beautiful painting of a beautiful place and if you see it in person it's even more amazing with all the brushstrokes and looking at it from different angles and what not. Vetheuil is a town in France. i really want to travel through Europe soon. it's been a place i've wanted to just go for a month or two or maybe six with no plans whatsoever.
